We are an NGO promoting sustainable technologies. There are several brilliant technologies lying unutilized owing to a lack of awareness and possible vested interests. We have identified four important pillars of society, viz. the Public, the Government, the Corporate, and the Technologists (Specialists). We feel that if the potential of a technology is to be optimally harvested there needs to be a coming together of these pillars. There are widespread efforts (though too scattered) by various organizations in the area of Water & Sanitation. We act as a catalyst to synergize some of these efforts. We also attempt to activate latent potentials to create public awareness and enthusiasm while building global teams / networks. Philosophy Of One Nature (Universe) is Wise, Self-sustaining, Positive and Holistic. It is "ONE" - integrated & harmonized system. This "ONE" ness should be preserved for any Technology to be sustainable. The solution to many modern societal problems lies within natural processes and mechanisms. Like nature we must learn to function in an integrated sustainable manner. History The concept of ONE originated in 1983 when Mr Joy Manglani returned from US & Europe with a realisation that India (Rural & Urban) has tremendous latent potential. The name was coined in 1992. In 1999-2000, Mr V. Ranganathan (now Chief Secretary, Govt. of Maharashtra, Bombay, India) & Dr. Suresh G. Motwani (a dynamic Multinational Corporate Leader) encouraged us to focus in its present direction. Since its inception, ONE has worked in areas such as: Biogas Technology, Development of Handloom Sector in India, Eco-friendly Clothing, Organic Farming, Water Supply Pipeline Analysis, Asbestos Cement Technology and Town Waste Treatment using Soil Bio-Technology. Sustenance & Growth The areas ONE is working on are of immense contemporary importance globally. There is a tremendous potential demand for such technologies. ONE works in collaboration globally with the four main pillars of society: Public, Government, Corporate & Technology Sectors. A symbiotic demand-supply mechanism ensures a self-sustainable growth for ONE. Public creates the demand, Technologists provide technical support, Governments provide political and bureaucratic support and lastly, the corporate sector provides the supply mechanism and also gives us project-based financial support. |
